How it works
Tap on, ride, tap off, recharge. Here's exactly what happens at the gate, the on-board reader, the open-air post — and how to top up.
Hold your mobl.city card — or your phone — flat against the reader until you see the green check and hear the confirmation tone. This starts your journey. On buses and trams the reader is by the door; on rail it's the fare gate.
It takes under a third of a second. No app to open, nothing to scan.
At gated rail stations, tap the target on top of the gate. A valid card with enough balance turns the paddles green and they open instantly. Walk straight through — the gate closes behind you.
If the paddles stay red, your card needs a recharge. Any station kiosk can top it up in seconds.
Many stops have no gates at all. Look for a free-standing mobl.city post on the platform — a slim pillar with a reader at chest height. Tap on when you arrive and tap off before you leave, exactly as you would at a gate.
Posts are lit and marked with the mobl.city logo so they're easy to spot, day or night.
Always tap off at the end of your trip. The fare engine measures the zones you actually travelled and charges the exact amount — then applies the daily cap so you're never charged more than a day pass.
Forget to tap off? You may be charged a maximum-journey fare. Tap off and it's sorted automatically next time.
Keep riding
Top up whenever it suits you. Money lands on your card within a few seconds.
Open the mobl.city app, choose a card, tap Reload, pick an amount and pay with Google Pay or a saved card. Done before your bus arrives.
Tap your card on the kiosk, choose an amount on the touchscreen, and pay by contactless card. A receipt prints if you want one.
Any staffed counter can reload your card. Hand it over, say the amount, and pay — your new balance is active immediately.
The app shows your live balance at the top. Tap Reload, choose $10, $20, $50 or a custom amount, and confirm with your phone's wallet. The balance updates the moment the payment clears.
